Hello
I hope this email finds you in good health and
spirits. Well
I went flying today and went into my car to charge a
battery
like I've done a hundred times before. I hooked my battery
up
to the charger as usual and plugged in the balancer and
set the charger
to about 1,000 ma, it was a 2100 mah Li-Po
battery. So I went out
of my van to talk to Gray Neil and
about 3 or 4 minutes later someone
yelled out that there was
a fire in my car. I looked over at my car and
there were
flames coming out of the passenger front window. And then
all hell broke out. The three Li-Po batteries in the front
seat began to
explode, then the car battery exploded. The
tires exploded and the
gas tank exploded. The flames shot up and
out thirty feet in the air.
That caught the car
cover/carport on fire too.

The good news is that there is a
fire house 5 hundred
feet away. The bad new is there was no
one there. So my car burned 15 to
twenty minutes before the
fire trucks arrived. Well my car is a total
loss.

So my the lesson in this story is don't charge your Li-Po
batteries
unattended and maybe not charge them in your car
either. I hope you all
don't have to learn the hard way like
me. The news people from channel 12
were there, so I am sure
you'll be seeing me on the news tonight and
probably the
whole weekend with my luck. You all have a nice weekend and
be safe and oh yes, I am ok but my nerves are shot. Ron
